PLANT QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

Job Type: Full Time, Onsite (Salary)

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 7.00 am – 3.30 pm

(Longer hours may be required based on production needs)

Annual Salary: $95,000 - $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience

Our Delta Plant operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting high-volume production year-round across a diverse portfolio of wild seafood products, including fresh, frozen, and value-added items.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Plant Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining all quality assurance and food safety programs at the Delta facility. This is a hands‑on leadership role that works closely with plant operations to support daily production, responds to real‑time quality decisions on the production floor, prepares for regulatory and third‑party audits, and reinforces a strong food safety culture during both peak season and year‑round operations.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Hands‑on, practical leader who enjoys being present on the production floor (time split 60% on the production floor, 40% in the office).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
  • Clear communicator with frontline employees and senior management
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Able to work independently while collaborating within a broader team

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and maintain all plant‑level QA/QC programs, including HACCP, GMPs, BRC, sanitation, allergen control, traceability, and product specifications
  • Ensure compliance with CFIA, FDA (as applicable), customer, and third‑party audit standards
  • Prepare for, support, and lead regulatory inspections and certification audits
  • Establish and maintain inspection, monitoring, sampling, and testing procedures
  • Review and trend QA data; communicate findings, risks, and corrective actions to plant and corporate leadership
  • Act as the primary QA contact for the plant, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Supply Chain teams
  • Provide real‑time QA decision‑making on the production floor
  • Investigate quality deviations, food safety incidents, and non‑conformances using root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality, yield, and operational efficiency
  • Supervise, coach, and develop QA/QC Supervisors, Technicians, and Inspectors
  • Train plant personnel on food safety, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Promote a strong food safety and quality culture across the facility
  • Represent the company with regulators, auditors, customers, suppliers, and industry organizations as required
  • Participate in supplier evaluations and raw material quality assessments

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • 7+ years of progressive quality assurance experience in food manufacturing, preferably seafood or protein processing
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP, CFIA regulations, FDA (if applicable), BRC, and GFSI standards
  • Demonstrated experience leading plant‑level QA programs and audit readiness
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
  • Easy to work with, collaborative, and flexible.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
