Welcome to the NWT Brewing Company - nestled between the wonder of the aurora borealis and the rugged nature of the northern frontier, our little brewing outpost is one of a kind. Located in the spirited town of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories we are the northernmost brewpub in Canada. Established in 2015, we made Canada's top 50 bars list in 2018 and have held the number 1 spot on TripAdvisor in Yellowknife for many years. We value good beer, exceptional fresh food and strive daily to provide a world-class customer experience North of 60°.

Our 112 seat brewpub, The Woodyard Brewhouse & Eatery, is on the hunt for a bartender to join our Woodyard crew. We are seeking a craft beer enthusiast with a positive and professional approach to customers and coworkers. The right individual will have the ability to work in a busy, fast paced work environment that is very team oriented.

JOB SUMMARY: Join our Front of House team as a bartender and create memorable experiences for every guest at the bar! You’ll set the tone behind the bar by crafting drinks to spec, keeping the bar stocked and spotless, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with alcohol regulations. Restaurant experience is an asset, and a passion for craft beer is a huge plus.

- Starting pay is $17/hour or based on experience. Gratuities on top!

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preparing and Serving Drinks

  • Mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Ensuring proper presentation and garnishing of drinks.

Customer Service

  • Greeting customers and taking orders.
  • Providing recommendations based on customer preferences.
  • Handling customer complaints and ensuring satisfaction.

Cash Handling

  • Processing payments and managing the cash register.
  • Handling credit card transactions and making change.

Maintaining Bar Area

  • Keeping the bar clean and organized.
  • Washing glassware and utensils.
  • Restocking supplies and inventory management.

Compliance and Safety

  • Checking IDs to ensure customers meet the legal drinking age.
  • Adhering to all local, territorial, and federal alcohol regulations.
  • Monitoring customer behaviour to prevent overconsumption

Ensuring a Positive Atmosphere

  • Creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment for patrons.
  • Managing the ambiance with appropriate music and lighting.

REQUIREMENTS

· Proven work experience as a Bartender or barback is an asset

· Extensive food & beverage knowledge, with the ability to recall ingredients of beverages and/or dishes to inform customers and wait staff

· Familiarity with restaurant management software, we use SilverWare

· Strong people skills

· Teamwork skills

· NWT Safe Serve Liquor Certification
