Full job description

Overview
The Grounds Maintenance Worker will help maintain upkeep and beautification of the community by assisting with various clean up, light landscaping and customer service related tasks to assist seniors living in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Mowing Edging and fertilizing lawns
  • Weeding and mulching landscape beds
  • Trimming small tress, hedges and shrubs
  • Moving unwanted, dead or damaged trees.
  • Planting shrubs, flowers and trees
  • Watering gardens, lawns and landscapes
  • Monitoring and maintaining plant health
  • Ensure exterior property is kept in a safe and attractive manner
  • Complete and submit required daily paperwork
  • Ensure all work activities are carried out safely and efficiently, and in compliance with government and company.
  • Follow all PPE standards as well as local health and safety laws and regulations
  • Communicate with customers in polite and courteous manner
  • Collect water and ensure proper waste management procedures are carried out.
  • Maintain overall condition of the buildings and grounds, ensuring all debris is removed and site is kept in attractive manner
  • Perform inspection of premises and ensure that any hazardous conditions are immediately taken care of or reported appropriately
  • Other duties as assigned

Funding for this position is through Canada Summer Jobs.

  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the summer job
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the job and
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations (This includes having a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of summer job)

  • Vulnerable Sector Police Screening
  • Ability to read, write, speak English
  • Ability to use Electronic Work Order System and email via a mobile device
