Are you looking for a great opportunity with the Ministry of the Environment Conservation and Parks to engage with people and work with a dynamic and motivated team?

As the Assistant Park Superintendent, you will play a central role by assisting with planning, developing and managing of Blue Lake Provincial Park, Ojibway Provincial Park, Sandbar Lake Provincial Park, and Aaron Provincial Park while protecting their natural and recreational heritage values.

Community:
Our Office is located in the City of Dryden which is a small and vibrant city that serves as a hub for surrounding communities within the cluster of parks including Town of Sioux Lookout, Town of Ignace and Vermilion Bay.

Blue Lake Provincial Park is a park in Kenora District, Ontario located 10 kilometers northwest of the community of Vermilion Bay, renowned for its crystal clear waters and long sandy beach, Blue Lake is an outstanding destination for all types of water activities. It features 202 campsites including tent sites, trailer sites and pull through RV sites as well as 5 trailer equipped campsite rentals and hiking trails ranging from easy interpretive trails to longer day hikes.

Ojibway Provincial Park is a provincial park located 26 kilometers south of Sioux Lookout, Ontario that offers excellent fishing for Smallmouth Bass and other species. Little Vermilion Lake provides a link to several northern canoe routes and boundless opportunities for boating, fishing while the parks' hiking trails offer wildlife observation. This small and tranquil campground features 46 campsites ranging from pull through sites to completely private lakeside tent sites.

Sandbar Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park located 11 kilometers north of Ignace, Ontario that has a beautiful sandy beach with gently sloping swimming area that's great for kids. The park also offers extensive fishing opportunities on Sandbar Lake and is a gateway to several northern canoe routes. This park has 75 campsites and 2 group campsites that can accommodate equipment ranging from tents only to large trailers.

Aaron Provincial Park is a peaceful lakeside retreat located just 15 km east of Dryden, Ontario, along the Trans-Canada Highway. Nestled beside Thunder Lake, the park offers excellent fishing for walleye, northern pike, and smallmouth bass. Visitors can enjoy swimming at two sandy beaches, paddling through clear waters, and hiking scenic trails through boreal forest and wetlands.

Mandatory requirements

• Valid Ontario Driver's Licence.
  
• Ability to meet certification standards for Park Warden designation and Use of Force.
  
• Emergency First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
  
• Licensing eligibility for public water and sewage treatment operations.

• Facility and Infrastructure Knowledge: You understand site development, utilities, and maintenance practices to support park infrastructure.
  
• Licensing and Certification: You meet ministry standards for water/sewage treatment operations, Park Warden designation, and emergency first aid.

Communication and Relationship Management

• Stakeholder Engagement: You build strong relationships with staff, volunteers, visitors, service providers, and emergency services.
  
• Conflict Resolution: You respond to complaints and sensitive issues with professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.
  
• Collaborative Leadership: You work across teams and agencies to support park operations and emergency planning.
