CAMP COUNSELOR

We are excited to be offering our Day Camp Program at Base31 for the 2026 summer season!

What this means is that we are looking for someone who loves sunshine, silly songs and making memories for campers that will last a lifetime! Are you the kind of person who can turn a rainy day into a dance party? If this sounds like you – we want you as part of our team!

As a Camp Counselor you will be fulfilling a variety of different roles including role model, cheer squad, adventure guide all rolled into one. From leading games and crafts, to supporting campers through new challenges you’ll help create a safe, inclusive and joy filled experience for every child.

Our campers will range from four (4) years old to twelve (12) years old, with camp running Mondays to Fridays during business hours. Our location is part of a 70-acre cultural tourism destination under development as part of a larger 700-acre site in Picton, Ontario.

Who you are

· You are energetic, responsible, and love working with kids

· You bring a positive attitude and are not afraid to get a bit silly

· You have experience working with children

· You have patience, problem solving abilities, and good communication skills

· You believe that safety is of the utmost importance and following the rules is a must

· You can carry items around the camp location and travel on hilly and uneven terrain

· You can tolerate the outdoors in its various climates and are able to perform tasks outdoors.

· You have experience or education in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children or in a related field.

· You have your first aid certificate

· You can provide a clean criminal record check with vulnerable screening.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports the Camp Leader with planning, programming, and implementation of the B31 Camp framework.
  • Provides campers with a positive and welcoming environment where every camper feels included.
  • Supervises campers ensuring that safety is considered first and foremost.
  • Supports campers’ development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being through positive interaction, and programming.
  • Facilitates and creates lesson plans for daily activities.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of the site.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
  • Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Records and tracks camper’s dietary restrictions/allergies and ensures that the meals/snacks are distributed to them.
  • Mediates any campers’ disputes.
  • Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program.
  • Leads confidently while listening with care
  • A collaborative team player who shows up with kindness and creativity
