Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Café Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in food service, strong time management skills, and familiarity with POS systems such as Shopify POS. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic setting where attention to detail and customer satisfaction are paramount.

Responsibilities

  • Take customer orders accurately using POS systems, including Shopify POS
  • Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverages in accordance with safety and quality standards
  • Handle cash transactions, including cash handling and cashiering duties
  • Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including food preparation stations and dining spaces
  • Ensure food safety protocols are followed at all times, including proper food handling and storage
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting guests warmly and addressing their needs promptly
  • Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, ensuring timely service during busy periods
  • Manage time effectively to handle multiple tasks efficiently during shifts
  • Uphold food safety standards and ensure compliance with health regulations

Experience

  • Previous barista or food service experience is preferred, especially within the food industry
  • Familiarity with POS systems such as Shopify POS is advantageous
  • Experience in serving, food preparation, cashiering, or food handling is beneficial
  • Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during busy hours
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
  • Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction accuracy
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
