Job Description

The Food Prep Worker is responsible for assisting cooks, chefs, or food service managers by preparing ingredients for recipes and performing other food preparation and service tasks. The Food Prep Worker should prepare food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

Job Responsibilities


  • Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Safely utilizes a variety of utensils including knifes
  • Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
  • Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guest, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
  • Prepare, cook, and present menu items efficiently and consistently according to recipes, portion standards, and quality expectations.
  • Complete food preparation duties, including washing, cutting, portioning, and storing ingredients.
  • Complete daily opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Stock, organize, and maintain inventory at assigned stations to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Report inventory shortages, product quality concerns, equipment issues, and maintenance needs to management.
  • Receive, label, rotate, and store food products in accordance with food safety and FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
  • Handle food safely and maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation throughout each shift.
  • Deliver high-quality food and service to guests in a timely manner.
  • Work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods.
  • Collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house team members.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional, and respectful attitude toward guests, co-workers, and management.
  • Understand and be knowledgeable about the full menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and allergens.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as reasonably assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of various food prep methods, proper knife handling, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage preferred
  • One or more years of cooking, line cooking or commercial kitchen experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lb


This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Minimum 1-2 years experience

The pay range for this position is $20.55 - $20.55.

The Donald Gordon Centre is located at 421 Union Street. Please enter through the main entrance and register at the Job Fair registration desk located in the main lobby upon arrival.
