Full job description

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Cake Baker & Decorator to join our team! The ideal candidate will have experience in cake decorating and a passion for creating visually appealing and delicious cakes with love and creativity. This is a part-time position initially with full-time hours opening up as the cake department expands. The position will be focused on handling custom wedding cake orders and specialty cakes depending on season and incoming orders.

Responsibilities and Skills:
- Decorate cakes with high standards using different styles and techniques are a must

- Must be passionate and driven, and inject that passion and love into crafting our cakes

- Knowledge on cake batters and baking – including gluten friendly

- Knowledge of various cake decorating techniques, including controlled piping, smooth scraping with sharp edges, crumb coating, naked, and smooth cakes

- Ensure cakes are prepared and decorated in a timely manner

- Experience working with fondant, gel icing, and buttercream frosting with the ability to adapt to plant-based recipes

- Keep up with production schedules and prioritize tasks accordingly

- Proved ability to create aesthetically pleasing handwriting and numerals on cakes (traditional handwriting, printing, and capital letters)

- Maintain a clean and organized work area

- Ability to maintain all equipment and utensils in good shape and organized

- Ability to collaborate and be a team player in a fast-paced and inclusive environment

- Ability to focus and pay attention to detail, follow guidelines, and instructions given by superiors

- Strong communication skills

- Strong understanding of food safety guidelines

- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)

- Experience working in a kitchen environment and professional experience creating cakes

- Food handling permit is an asset
