Low Voltage Technician (3-6 Years Experience) - Ottawa & Belleville

JcoM Communications Inc. has been providing professional low-voltage solutions across Eastern Ontario since 2003. We specialize in Structured Cabling, Fibre Optics, Wireless Networks, CCTV, VOIP, Cell Booster Systems, and Network Infrastructure for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients.

With offices in Ottawa and Belleville, we're continuing to grow and are currently looking for Low Voltage Technicians to join both of our teams.

Whether you're based in the Ottawa area or the Belleville/Quinte region, you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of exciting projects while building your career with a company that values quality workmanship, teamwork, and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, label, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A cabling.
  • Install, terminate, and troubleshoot fibre optic cabling.
  • Install cable tray, J-hooks, basket tray, conduit, and support systems.
  • Install wireless access points, CCTV cameras, network cabinets, and VOIP equipment.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, floor plans, and specifications.
  • Test and certify copper cabling using Fluke or equivalent testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot cabling and connectivity issues.
  • Build, organize, and dress network cabinets.
  • Complete work independently while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, and project managers.
  • Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage installations.
  • Experience installing and terminating copper cabling.
  • Experience working with fibre optic cabling.
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work at heights and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience in commercial construction environments.

Requirements

  • Valid Ontario G Driver's Licence.
  • Reliable vehicle.
  • Own basic hand tools.
  • Working at Heights Certification.
  • WHMIS Certification.
  • Worker Health & Safety Awareness in 4 Steps.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance if required.

Experience with any of the following is considered an asset:

  • Fibre optic testing and troubleshooting
  • Fluke cable certification
  • Wireless network installations
  • CCTV systems
  • VOIP systems
  • Cell booster systems
  • Rack and cabinet build-outs
  • Manufacturer certifications
