Full job description

About Modersy Interior

Modersy Interior is a Calgary-based custom millwork and cabinetry manufacturer. We build high-quality commercial and institutional interiors — everything from reception desks and nurse stations to full kitchen packages and architectural feature walls. Our shop runs three production bays and our team of 30+ tradespeople takes projects from raw sheet goods to finished installs across Alberta.

We work with major general contractors including EllisDon and CANA Management, and we’re known for doing it right the first time. If you want steady, meaningful work with a company that values quality over shortcuts, keep reading.

The Role

We’re hiring a Red Seal Cabinetmaker to join our shop team in Calgary. This is primarily a shop fabrication role with occasional on-site installation depending on project needs. You’ll read drawings, build to spec, and hold yourself to a high standard of fit and finish. We need someone who can work independently, communicate clearly, and take pride in the details.

What You’ll Do

  • Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and cut lists to fabricate custom cabinetry and millwork
  • Operate shop equipment including table saws, panel saws, edge banders, routers, planers, and CNC machines
  • Build, assemble, and finish cabinets, countertops, vanities, wall panels, and architectural millwork to tight tolerances
  • Work with a range of materials: plywood, MDF, melamine, solid wood, laminates, veneers, and solid surface
  • Perform quality checks on your own work before it leaves the shop
  • Support on-site installation, site measuring, and fit-up as needed (occasional, not daily)
  • Collaborate with the production team, shop lead, and project managers to meet deadlines
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times

What We’re Looking For (Must Haves)

✓ Red Seal Certification in Cabinetmaking (Interprovincial). THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE.

✓ Minimum 3 years of journeyperson-level experience in a custom shop or commercial millwork environment

✓ Strong ability to read shop drawings, blueprints, and specifications

✓ Proficiency with standard shop machinery and hand tools

✓ Solid understanding of materials, joinery, and cabinet construction methods

✓ Legally entitled to work in Canada

✓ Reliable transportation to our Calgary shop (and occasionally to project sites in the Calgary area)

✓ Commitment to workplace safety and willingness to wear required PPE

Nice to Have

  • CNC operation or programming experience (asset, not required)
  • Installation experience on commercial job sites
  • Familiarity with AWMAC standards
  • Experience with cabinet design/drafting software (Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • WHMIS 2015 training
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and clean driving record

Pay and Benefits

$30–$38/hour depending on experience and qualifications

  • Extended health, on-site parking, and company events.
  • Paid overtime (time-and-a-half after 44 hours/week per Alberta Employment Standards)
  • Paid time off per Alberta Employment Standards
  • Steady, full-time, year-round work. No seasonal layoffs.
  • Supportive team environment with experienced tradespeople

Schedule and Location

Schedule: Monday to Friday, [7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Friday shift off at 4:00 PM]. Occasional overtime as needed (always paid).

Location: Modersy Interior shop, Calgary, AB.

Tools, Safety, and Standards

  • Modersy Interior maintains a strong safety culture. All team members are expected to follow our Health & Safety program and wear appropriate PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, dust masks, etc.).
  • We comply with Alberta OHS regulations and maintain current WHMIS, first aid, and silica exposure protocols.
  • Quality is non-negotiable. Our work meets or exceeds AWMAC standards, and we expect every piece that leaves our shop to be client-ready.
  • Basic hand tools are expected (tape measure, squares, chisels, etc.). Major shop equipment and specialty tools are provided by Modersy.
