Full job description

General Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized General Accountant with manufacturing accounting experience to support the day-to-day accounting operations of our manufacturing business. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations, and working closely with operations to support inventory, costing, and production-related accounting activities.

Financial Reporting & Close

  • Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close process including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Prepare management reporting packages for senior leadership

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee general ledger integrity and chart of accounts maintenance
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
  • Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, and expense reports
  • Ensure accurate and timely HST/GST filings and remittances

Compliance & Regulatory

  • Ensure compliance with CRA requirements
  • Assist with year-end external audit and preparation of working papers

Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement efficiencies in accounting processes and systems
  • Support ERP system upgrades and financial system projects
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles
  • Experience with HST/GST filings and account reconciliations
  • Proficiency with accounting software/ERP systems (Sage experience is an asset)
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred

  • Manufacturing experience
  • CPA designation or currently pursuing CPA
  • Experience with inventory accounting and costing

Pay: $85,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
