The Opportunity

Southwind Corporate Development Inc. is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide strategic leadership and guide the continued growth and success of the organization and its corporate group.

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for implementing the organization’s strategic direction, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, advancing economic development opportunities, and ensuring overall organizational performance.

This position requires a visible and engaged leadership presence within the organization. The CEO is expected to work primarily from the office and maintain regular interaction with staff, the Board of Directors, community leadership, and key stakeholders.

The position requires regular travel, including attendance at Board meetings, shareholder meetings, community events, government and industry engagements, business development activities, partnership discussions, and other organizational priorities. A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel are required.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the development and execution of Southwind's strategic plan and long-term priorities.

· Translate Board direction into actionable goals, initiatives, and measurable outcomes.

· Identify, evaluate, and advance opportunities for economic growth, investment, partnerships, and business development.

· Provide leadership, support, and accountability to the Executive Directors and Managing Director.

· Maintain oversight of organizational financial performance, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and reporting.

· Lead or support negotiations related to partnerships, investments, development opportunities, joint ventures, and strategic agreements.

Qualifications and Experience

· Significant senior executive leadership experience within a complex organization.

· Experience reporting to and working effectively with a Board of Directors.

· Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, investment analysis, and strategic financial planning.

· Demonstrated experience negotiating complex agreements, partnerships, joint ventures, and business transactions.

· Experience working with Indigenous communities, economic development corporations, investment entities, or business enterprises is strongly preferred.

Education

· A university degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Law, Public Administration, Indigenous Governance, or a related field is preferred.

· A master's degree (MBA, MPA, or equivalent graduate-level credential) is considered an asset.

· Professional designations such as CPA, CFA, ICD.D, C.Dir., or other relevant credentials are considered assets.

· Equivalent combinations of education, executive leadership experience, and demonstrated success will be given equal consideration.

First Nations Economic Development

· Understanding of First Nations economic development and sustainable wealth creation.

· Knowledge of First Nations governance, consultation processes, partnerships, and economic participation.

· Familiarity with Anishinabek culture and traditional territories is considered an asset.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $120,000 to $170,000, with salary determination based on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated capabilities. In addition to base salary, the successful candidate may be eligible for a performance-based bonus program and comprehensive benefits package.
