Full job description

Duties

  • Create detailed technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software Collaborate with engineers and architects to understand project requirements and specifications
  • · Utilize specialized software such as Revit, SysQue & AutoCAD to develop accurate and precise drawings
  • · Incorporate design changes and modifications as directed by project managers
  • · Prepare and update schematics, layouts, and blueprints for construction projects
  • · Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations in all drafted designs
  • · Review and analyze project specifications to identify potential design issues or conflicts
  • · Collaborate with other drafters and team members to ensure consistency and accuracy in drawings
  • · Maintain organized records of all drafts, revisions, and project documentation

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in Architectural, Mechanical, Civil, or Engineering Drafting Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of drafting experience, preferably in the mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or construction industry.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SysQue. Experience with other CAD/BIM software is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of 2D and 3D drafting, BIM workflows, and construction documentation.
  • Knowledge of drafting standards, engineering drawing conventions, symbols, and applicable building codes.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, hydronics, and piping layouts, is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality technical drawings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify design conflicts and recommend practical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with engineers, project managers, field personnel, and other team members.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Knowledge of Manitoba Building Code, National Plumbing Code, National Building Code, and applicable industry standards is considered an asset.

Compensation

  • Offers a competitive compensation package based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SysQue, and knowledge of mechanical systems. Salary will be discussed during the interview process.
