Position Summary:

The Business Intelligence Developer/Analyst is responsible for the Company's enterprise reporting, budgeting, and forecasting solutions from end-to-end, from gathering business requirements through building and supporting the finished reports, dashboards, and planning models. This role blends business analysis with hands-on technical development by understanding what the business needs, designing the data model or report to deliver it, and building it directly.

The Company currently uses IBM Cognos and TM1 for enterprise reporting and forecasting, and is transitioning to Phocas, a cloud-based platform for BI, budgeting, and forecasting. Cognos will remain in place during the transition, so this role will maintain and support existing Cognos/TM1 reports and models while leading the build-out of new solutions in Phocas. This position is suited to someone who enjoys working directly with business stakeholders to understand their needs and is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to build the report, cube, or planning model themselves and becoming the organization's go-to expert across our reporting and planning tool stack.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work with business users to thoroughly identify and document business requirements, ensuring all impacts of solutions are understood, and risks have been identified.
  • Work with the IT business application team presenting recommendations and collaborating on system design.
  • Understand organizational processes and how they are implemented in ERP systems.
  • Understand database structures and the ERP database model.
  • Create detailed specifications for enhancements and new applications.
  • Develop acceptance test strategies and execute test plans.
  • Develop implementation plans including developing and delivering training to users and maintaining project and department documentation.
  • Query the database, retrieve, and manipulate data for the business.
  • Support the organization by resolving complex issues and researching impact to other departments or systems.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to incorporate AI tools, automation, and intelligent capabilities into business processes and system solutions and translate these opportunities into clear, actionable requirements for the development team.
  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to help define, prioritize, and support the integration of AI-enabled features into our products and workflows.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Technical Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a combination of directly related education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience in coaching, training, and assisting end users.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and MRP processes an asset.
  • Experience with SQL, Cognos, ERP systems, SharePoint and Automation an asset.
  • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence, large language models, or AI-assisted tools and workflows an asset.
  • Experience identifying or implementing AI-enabled features within business applications an asset.

Skills and Attributes Required:

· Solutions focused with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle changing priorities and fluctuating workloads.

· Solid communication skills in verbal, written, and presentation form.

· Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.

· Driven to learn and implement new technologies, but pragmatic in problem solving.

· Good organizational skills.

· Enthusiasm for exploring AI and emerging technologies and including practical application to solve business problems.
