THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, identifying trends, variances and key drivers impacting results
  • Lead financial statement review meetings and provide insights
  • Develop and maintain management reporting packages (KPIs, dashboards, variance reports)
  • Assist in annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles, updating financial projections based on business changes
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis for operations, finance and other teams
  • Perform month-end close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and subledger reviews
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Oversee the capital expenditure process including annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, meeting organization and corporate reporting
  • Maintain the daily journal batch update process
  • Monitor the Goods Received Note (GRN) process, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner
  • Oversee the leased vehicles process
  • Execute ad hoc updates to Finance Master Data
  • Assist with internal and external audits, preparing supporting schedules and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, enhance financial models and tools, and contribute to process standardization across finance
  • Prepare daily/weekly bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and resolve in a timely manner
  • Prepare and submit monthly GST/HST and other government reporting in a timely manner.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in Accounting and/or Business Administration
  • CPA designation completed or in progress is considered an asset but not a requirement
  • 1-3 years experience in a finance role
  • Extensive experience with large fully integrated ERP computer systems
  • Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role.
  • Knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local requirements regarding financial records and the like is essential.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
  • Knowledge of publicly traded companies.
  • Good project management skills and the ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills are essential.
  • Ability to adapt to and learn new software.
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
