The National Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding the company's market presence across Canada. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, managing key customer relationships, and collaborating with internal teams to achieve organizational objectives. The position requires a proactive leader with strong sales, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 10 + years in the retail building materials industry.
  • Must be located in the lower mainland (if you apply from outside of the lower mainland, your application will not be considered).
  • Experience in B2B and B2C sales or account management.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Must be highly proficient with CRM systems, sales analytics, forecasting tools, and business intelligence reporting.
  • Proven experience securing product specifications with architects, engineers, designers, and builders on large-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of the building products, construction, outdoor living, lumberyard, distribution, or related industries.
  • Ability to identify market gaps, develop market-entry strategies, and launch successful growth initiatives.
  • Must possess exceptional negotiation skills with demonstrated success closing high-value contracts and strategic partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • · This is a full time, in-office job.

· Extensive Travel is required.

  • Develop and execute national business development strategies including identify new market opportunities, customer segments, and revenue streams.
  • Create and implement plans to achieve sales and growth targets.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments.
  • Work with Architects to have our products specified in projects.
  • Generate new business through prospecting, networking, and relationship building.
  • Analyse sales data to identify gaps and trending sales opportunities.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with a National Team
  • Help manage key national accounts and strategic customers.
  • Assist with contract negotiations and pricing discussions.
  • Prepare sales forecasts and business development reports.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions.
  • Provide guidance and support to regional sales teams.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and coaching of sales personnel.
  • Ensure consistent execution of company initiatives across all regions.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and sales pipelines.
  • Monitor KPIs and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports.
  • Manage business development expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Conduct product knowledge sessions and seminars.
