About Us

Key Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mill. The uranium milled at Key Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future.

The Role

Reporting to the senior engineer, electrical, you will be responsible for providing technical support amongst a team of professional engineers and technologists. Maintenance technologists bridge the gap between engineers and planners to support safe and efficient Key Lake operations in accordance with Cameco’s processes, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide technical support to maintenance engineers and tradespeople.
  • Develop detailed electrical work packages, including scope, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and installation instructions.
  • Prepare, update, and interpret electrical drawings (single line diagrams, layouts, and interconnection drawings).
  • Translate engineering designs into constructible, executable field work.
  • Ensure designs and work packages are complete, practical, and aligned with field requirements.
  • Support field execution through clarifications, redlines, and as-built updates.
  • Perform asset inspections and support field walkdowns.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement.
  • Provide general technical expertise in improving plant reliability.
Required:

  • four to seven years of relevant work experience;
  • equivalent combination of education and work experience considered;
  • strong organizational, problem solving, and communication skills; and
  • work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
Recommended:

  • Applied Science Technologist (AscT.), certified engineering technologist, or equivalent;
  • experience developing work packages or job plans;
  • experience with electrical drawings and drafting tools;
  • understanding of industrial electrical systems;
  • previous industrial/mining maintenance experience; and
  • experience using SAP based maintenance applications.
