Finlay River Inn Cook

Wage: $29.63 Hourly Wage

Benefits: Paid sick leave, 3 weeks vacation, comprehensive benefits, and 5.5% employer pension match

Hours: Full-Time, 21 days on/10 days off rotation. Shifts are 9 hours of paid work under an approved modified work schedule per the Canada Labour Code

Location: Fort Ware, BC, with transportation provided from Prince George

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Finlay River Inn Operations and the Director of Accommodations and Hospitality, the Finlay River Inn Cook will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the kitchen on a day to-day basis, including meal preparation, cleaning and organizing as required at the Finlay River Inn camp.

  • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods such as breakfast, lunch, sandwiches, snacks, hot dinner meals, salads, soups based on meal plans
  • Participate in take-out orders and catering when needed
  • Bake fresh bread, cinnamon buns, and support all meal preparation
  • Inspect kitchen and food service areas, as well as accommodations, to ensure cleanliness is maintained and perform cleaning duties as needed
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment
  • Collaborate with other departments and kitchen team to ensure smooth food preparation
  • Report all food-related or equipment-related concerns to the Director or Manager
  • Clean up after all meal service, including wiping tables, counters, and washing dishes if necessary
  • Support on delivery days, including receiving groceries and stocking them on shelves
  • Comply with all Food Hygiene and Health and Safety regulations

Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience, post-secondary degree or diploma in culinary kitchen management or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Food Handler certification is an asset
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License, and willingness to travel to Fort Ware
