Catering Assistant

Gather Catering is a made-from-scratch boutique catering company that delivers exceptional food and service for events throughout Calgary. We cater a wide variety of functions, including corporate breakfasts and lunches, cocktail receptions, weddings, private dinners, birthday celebrations, baby showers, celebrations of life, and other special events.

We are looking for a dependable and organized Catering Assistant to join our team. This role is primarily based in our kitchen and office, helping prepare equipment, supplies, beverages, and event materials while keeping our catering inventory clean, organized, and event-ready.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes, likes staying organized, and takes pride in supporting a team. No two days are exactly the same, so we're looking for someone who is adaptable, eager to learn, and willing to jump in wherever needed. We provide training and are looking for someone who is excited to learn our systems and grow with our team.

Responsibilities

Event Preparation

  • Pack catering equipment, serving pieces, beverages, décor, and event supplies for upcoming events.
  • Prepare event kits to ensure all required items are packed accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with loading and unloading vehicles for catered events.
  • Occasionally deliver food and equipment for drop-off catering orders.

Equipment & Kitchen Organization

  • Wash, polish, and maintain catering equipment, dishware, cutlery, glassware, and serving pieces.
  • Assist with post-event teardown by unloading, cleaning, sorting, and returning equipment to inventory.
  • Organize storage areas so equipment and supplies are clean, accessible, and ready for future events.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen and storage environment.

Inventory & Supplies

  • Monitor inventory levels of beverages, disposable products, cleaning supplies, and catering equipment.
  • Communicate when supplies are running low so they can be reordered.
  • Receive, organize, and store deliveries.
  • Occasionally shop for supplies and event-related items as needed.

Team Support

  • Provide logistical support to the kitchen and event teams.
  • Help maintain organized systems for equipment and supplies.
  • Notice when something needs attention and take initiative to address it.
  • Support the team wherever needed to help ensure every event is set up for success.

Qualifications

  • Organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently after training.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable adapting when priorities change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to lift 25–50 lbs and perform physically active work, including standing for extended periods and moving equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
  • Comfortable driving company vehicles for occasional deliveries.
  • Previous experience in catering, hospitality, retail, warehouse, or customer service is considered an asset, but is not required.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Training and opportunities to learn all aspects of catering operations.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • A varied role where no two days are the same.
  • Opportunities to grow and take on additional responsibilities over time.

Pay will be based on experience. Only prospective candidates will be contacted.

Pay: $21.00-$26.00 per hour

Benefits:
