Full job description

As a General Labourer, you will remove unwanted materials from metal parts, castings, and other products to ensure a smooth surface, preparing parts for paint. These parts are used in the assembly of equipment that is dedicated to the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry.

Location: 54 Morton Avenue East, Brantford, ON
Dedicated Day Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday -Friday
Dedicated Afternoon Shift: 3:00pm – 1:30am, Monday – Thursday
Shift Premium: $3.00/hour for afternoons

Job Duties
  • Read and interpret work orders, following the production schedule to ensure parts are prepared for painting in the order in which they are needed
  • Clean, sand, and prepare parts for painting, achieving quality standards for parts
  • Operate metal cleaning equipment, such as scrapers and grinders, to remove excess welds, scale, and other materials from the surface of metal parts, castings, and other metal products
  • Immerse metal products in cleaning solvents and solutions
  • Operate lifting devices such as cranes (overhead and/or jib), to transport raw materials and finished metal products
  • Clean the paint prep and paint booth areas
Skills and Experience
  • Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands, and manage frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
  • Demonstrate a keen attention to detail and conscientiousness to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Finishing tasks requires collaboration with team members; effective communication and reasoning skills are essential when working on projects involving multiple team members
  • Physical requirements include standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, twisting, reaching, gripping, and pinching
  • Heavy lifting may be required (up to 50lbs)
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in manufacturing or in hands-on roles; comfortable with work that can be both physically demanding with exposure to grease and oil.
  • Experience working with hand or power tools is an asset.
