We are seeking a hands-on Industrial Sewing Machine Mechanic (NOC 72400) with direct experience maintaining and repairing industrial sewing machines, computerized cutting machines, and related production equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for keeping specialized textile manufacturing equipment operational, safe, and production-ready by completing troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment documentation.

Position Summary:

The Industrial Sewing Machine Mechanic will support production by maintaining, troubleshooting, adjusting, and repairing specialized textile manufacturing equipment. The successful candidate must be able to diagnose equipment issues, complete repairs safely and efficiently, follow preventative maintenance schedules, and work independently or with remote technical support when required.

Key Equipment Maintained: Industrial sewing machines, computerized cutting machines, RF welding machines, grommet machines, punch presses, spray booth equipment, screen printing dryer, strip cutters, steam boiler, and related production machinery.

Core Responsibilities:

· Maintain, troubleshoot, adjust, and repair industrial sewing machines and computerized cutting machines to support uninterrupted production.

· Diagnose sewing machine issues including timing, tension, feed, needle, thread breakage, motor, drive, and set-up concerns.

· Perform preventative maintenance on specialized production equipment, including lubrication, inspection, safety checks, belt or part replacement, and documentation.

· Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic issues on production machinery and related industrial equipment.

· Complete equipment repairs independently where possible and coordinate with third-party or remote technical experts by phone or video when additional support is required.

· Monitor production areas for equipment issues, prioritize urgent repairs, and respond to downtime concerns in a timely manner.

· Follow monthly preventative maintenance requirements for RF welding machines, grommet machines, punch presses, spray booth, screen printing dryer, strip cutters, steam boiler, cutting machines, and other production-related equipment.

· Complete maintenance reports and preventative maintenance documentation using company templates.

· Ensure machinery and equipment meet safety requirements, guards are in place, and work is completed in accordance with safe work practices.

Required Qualifications:

· Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.

· Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing industrial sewing machines, computerized cutting machines, production machinery, or closely related industrial equipment.

· Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and practical experience diagnosing and repairing sewing machine or production equipment issues.

· Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical, pneumatic, and minor electrical equipment concerns.

· Ability to read and follow machine manuals, maintenance instructions, diagrams, and remote technical guidance.

· Ability to complete preventative maintenance records, repair notes, and equipment documentation accurately.

· Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

· Comfortable working with measurements, numbers, and unit conversions.

· Ability to prioritize competing repair and maintenance demands in a production environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience in textile, canvas, upholstery, automotive textile, technical textile, or industrial fabric manufacturing.

· Experience maintaining or repairing computerized cutting systems.

· Experience with RF welding machines, grommet machines, punch presses, strip cutters, spray booth equipment, screen printing dryers, boilers, or similar production equipment.

· Experience working with remote vendor or manufacturer technical support to complete equipment troubleshooting and repairs.

Technical Competencies:

· Industrial sewing machine timing, tension adjustment, feed adjustment, needle and thread issue troubleshooting, motor and drive assessment, and machine set-up.

· Preventative maintenance practices including inspection, lubrication, part replacement, safety guarding checks, and PM documentation.

· Basic mechanical troubleshooting using hand tools, measuring devices, and maintenance instructions.

· Production-focused repair prioritization to reduce downtime and support manufacturing schedules.

Position Status and Compensation Disclosure (Ontario)

This job posting represents a full-time, on-site vacancy in Hamilton, Ontario. The successful candidate will work in a production environment and must be available to support equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and downtime response during scheduled working hours. Overtime or adjusted hours may be required based on production needs.

Salary Range: $25.00 to $36.00 per hour.
