GL Chemtec International Ltd. is a dynamic, forward-thinking company specializing in the creation of advanced polymers for medical devices and drug delivery and small molecules pharma and biotech. We are on the cutting edge of research and development in the drug discovery and delivery and we are currently seeking a highly skilled Synthetic Polymer and Materials Chemist to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring a depth of experience in polymer synthesis and a passion for innovation, ready to contribute to our ongoing projects that push the boundaries of what's possible in drug delivery and biomedical materials.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize polymers to precise performance criteria, leveraging and understanding of the intricate polymer structure-property relationship.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical documentation with the acumen to provide pivotal project updates and strategic recommendations.
  • Plan and execute synthetic strategies for novel polymers with tailored properties.
  • Perform multistep synthesis for the creation of innovative monomers and polymer system.
  • Ability to execute synthetic scheme ranging between 2 to 10 steps.
  • Optimize polymerization reactions to fine-tune molecular weights and functionalities, and oversee the scale-up process.
  • Employ a broad spectrum of analytical techniques (NMR, FTIR, GPC, DSC) for detailed polymer characterization.
  • Guarantee the quality and consistency of polymer products through rigorous structural, compositional, physical and property analysis.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop new materials with bespoke properties for specialized applications.
  • Innovate in the formulation of polymer blends, composites, and additives, and assist in R&D to manufacturing technology transfer, as required.
  • Conduct literature reviews to assess technical feasibility and project scope and partake actively in technical discourse, reporting, and documentation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Organic Polymer Chemistry with at least 2 years of industry experience or a Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience.
  • Proven proficiency in polymer synthesis and a robust understanding of polymerization mechanisms and kinetics.
  • Expertise in analytical tools for polymer evaluation and familiarity with processing techniques.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to function autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication skills, essential for effective teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration.
