Icon Global Inc. is a multidisciplinary consulting firm specializing in Building Consulting & Project Management, Environmental Consulting, and Forensic Engineering.

We primarily serve the property insurance industry, along with legal, commercial, and private-sector clients across Canada. Our work involves large and complex property losses, technical failure investigations, and integrated consulting solutions.

As we expand nationally, we are seeking a Junior Forensic Engineer to support our growing Forensic Engineering division.

The Opportunity

The Junior Forensic Engineer will assist in technical investigations involving structural failures, building envelope deficiencies, fire and impact damage, mechanical and electrical failures, and other property-related loss events.

This role provides hands-on exposure to forensic engineering within a fast-paced insurance and claims environment. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers while developing investigative, analytical, and technical reporting skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in forensic investigations involving structural, building envelope, fire, water, wind and impact damage
  • Conduct site inspections and assist with evidence documentation and collection
  • Support laboratory coordination and specialty consultant engagement
  • Assist in root cause and loss causation analyses
  • Prepare field notes, photo logs, and supporting documentation
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports under senior review
  • Maintain communication with internal teams and project stakeholders
  • Support timely file progression and maintain organized documentation
  • Follow established QA/QC and safety protocols
  • Contribute to integrated investigations across Icon’s divisions

Qualifications

Education & Licensing

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • Registered as an EIT in Ontario or eligible for registration
  • Pursuit of P.Eng. designation preferred

Experience

  • 1–3 years of engineering experience preferred
  • Exposure to construction, building systems, or failure analysis considered an asset
  • Internship or co-op experience in consulting, construction, or engineering environments preferred
  • Experience in insurance-related investigations considered an asset

Skills

  • Strong technical writing and documentation ability
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and sound professional judgment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with AutoCAD or related software
