We are currently looking for a full-time Field Service Technicianto join our team at our La Glace, AB location.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Overtime will be required
  • Weekends and work outside of regular hours may be required

Work Environment:

  • Field environment approximately 85% and shop environment approximately 15%
  • Required to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat
  • Travel within the Grande Prairie area and surrounding areas is required
  • Work may take place at customer sites, field locations, and CSM Pump shop locations

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild industrial pumps and related rotating equipment, including centrifugal, vertical, and positive displacement pumps.
  • Ensure industrial pumps and related rotating equipment are disassembled, inspected, and reassembled to required specifications and tolerances.
  • Measure and verify component wear, fit, and tolerances using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
  • Replace seals, bearings, shafts, sleeves, impellers, couplings, and other worn pump components as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and corrective repairs on CSM Pump and/or customer owned equipment.
  • Complete service reports, work orders, inspection records, and repair documentation accurately and on time using computer-based systems.
  • Communicate equipment condition, repair status, and timelines clearly with appropriate operators, departments, and leaders.
  • Utilize specialized diagnostic equipment including electronic test instruments, laser alignment tools, pressure gauges, and other precision measurement equipment.
  • Operate hand and power tools and cutting or grinding equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop and field.
  • Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and site-specific safety requirements, always prioritizing personal and team safety.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively to meet service deadlines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Field Service Manager and/or Field Service Coordinator.

Qualification Requirements: (Minimum Education and Experience)

Minimum Requirements:

  • 4th year apprentice or Journeyman Millwright certification from an accredited post-secondary institution, or equivalent trade.
  • 4+ years of experience working with industrial pumps, rotating equipment, or mechanical repair.
  • Strong knowledge of bearings, seals, fits and tolerances, shaft alignment, and mechanical systems.
  • Physically capable to perform required field work.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
  • Valid Class 5 with Clean Driver's Abstract.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a continuous willingness to learn, retain knowledge, and apply technical information.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, engineering drawings, and related technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a logical approach to troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Effective communicator with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with customers, vendors, coworkers, and the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner.
  • Ability to complete internal and external paperwork in a timely manner, while providing clean, accurate, and detailed notes.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining focus, accuracy, and accountability for results.
  • Strong work ethic with a demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

HSE Requirements: (Training and Physical Demands)

  • Operate primarily in a field environment.
  • Able to sit, walk, and/or stand for long periods.
  • Lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • HR/HSE Orientation is required.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Training is required.
  • Crane Training is required.
  • Forklift Training may be required.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Training.
