Full job description

Zaber is looking for a self-motivated problem solver, with an interest in automation, to help customers choose the best solutions that meet their applications requirements. You’ll assist across all touch-points, including developing leads, quoting, aiding implementation, and supporting post-sale. By developing relationships with new and existing customers, you’ll explore a wide breadth of topics including mechanical design, troubleshooting, electromechanical systems, and programming, while also developing industry-specific knowledge.

By joining a high-performing, self-managed team of leaders, you’ll have the flexibility to operate in a way that works for you. Your team members will be there to support you in developing your motion control and customer service expertise.

As a core part of Zaber’s operation, you’ll have an opportunity to coordinate across teams. You will help create technical content, assist with traveling to trade-shows and conventions, and help develop customized designs. Within the company you will leverage your experience to act as a customer advocate, participating in design reviews, suggesting new products, and helping to develop and test new features and software.

Applications Engineer Responsibilities
  • Help customers choose the best solutions that meet their applications requirements.
  • Develop and manage relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Assist users with problem-solving over email and phone, including programming help.
  • Work internally to help advocate for customers' interests.
  • Write technical content that helps to educate and market.
  • Attend trade shows in North America and Europe several times per year, involving about a week of travel in each instance.
Applications Engineer Qualifications
  • Technical degree, ideally in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, required.
  • Ability to explain concepts through written and spoken English clearly and concisely required (other languages an asset).
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role, ideally with a technical support or sales focus, an asset.
  • Industry knowledge in photonics and optics, microscopy, industrial automation, or life sciences an asset.
Applications Engineer Wage
  • The starting wage for the role is $35 - $45, depending on experience.
