An Application Engineering Supervisor is responsible for providing guidance to Application Engineering team members, including the oversight of those employees for optimum performance. An Application Engineering Supervisor will be required to complete performance reviews, identify development areas for employees, provide input to management on resourcing requirements, and appropriately distribute workload amongst team members. Successful Supervisors will have a demonstrated capability for guiding a team, aptitude for people development and strong desire to mentor others for success. While these are the main responsibilities of the role, an Application Engineering Supervisor is also responsible for providing technical support, equipment selection, and quotations to a limited number of customers.

A successful candidate shall:
  • Conduct Inside Sales led selling for specific customers to support the achievement of established growth goals for accounts.
  • Demonstrate application of engineering theory combined with engineering management including planning, scheduling and determining overall business and technical risk.
  • Prepare reports or presentations to co-workers / customers to communicate complex engineering ideas, proposals or solutions.
  • Maintain industry expertise, including gathering and maintaining competitive intelligence in specific markets
  • Analyze margin and other factors that impact pricing to determine appropriate customer sales price.
  • Work with applicable stakeholders in the sales team to identify opportunities to maximize pricing
  • Conduct Performance Reviews with each employee on an annual basis using the required platform
  • Manage time off requests
  • Work collaboratively with Manager on resource planning to ensure team size and talent requirements are appropriate for the business and work volumes
  • Effectively communicate company updates, business objectives and new initiatives with team members.
  • Work with individual team members on their personal development areas, providing guidance and training where required.
Knowledge and skills required for the role:
  • Required: University undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 5 years of technical experience
  • 2+ years of lead or supervisory experience
