Full job description
LED Smart Inc. develops electronic products for lighting, sensing and control applications. We are seeking a hands-on junior electronics hardware professional to maintain existing products and gradually contribute to new product development. Under the technical guidance and design review of a senior hardware specialist, you will diagnose circuit and PCB failures, update Altium design files, validate changes and support production.
Initial focus: Your first priority will be existing-product maintenance, failure investigation, repair, technical documentation and production support. As your product knowledge grows, you will take on circuit modifications, component selection, prototype bring-up and new hardware development.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and test electronic circuits, assembled products and printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Reproduce reported problems, perform component-level failure analysis and identify root causes under appropriate technical guidance.
- Maintain and revise schematics and PCB layouts exclusively in Altium Designer, including approved changes to existing products.
- Maintain bills of materials, engineering-change records, manufacturing files and test procedures; help evaluate replacements for obsolete or unavailable components.
- Perform prototype assembly, soldering, board modifications and SMT/through-hole rework.
- Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads and related laboratory equipment to characterize and debug hardware.
- Assist with analog, digital, mixed-signal and power circuit modifications, component selection and design calculations.
- Work safely with AC/DC and mains-powered circuits and support EMI/EMC troubleshooting using established laboratory procedures.
- Work with production personnel to resolve manufacturing issues, improve testability and introduce prototypes into production.
- Clearly document test setups, results, repair procedures, root-cause findings and hardware changes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a closely related discipline with a strong electronics and circuit-design component.
- Two or more years of hands-on experience in hardware design, product support, circuit troubleshooting or repair; directly relevant co-op experience may be considered.
- Hands-on experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout, including modifying existing designs and reviewing board files.
- Sound analog and digital circuit fundamentals, basic power-electronics knowledge and the ability to read schematics, PCB layouts and component datasheets.
- Component-level troubleshooting experience using an oscilloscope, multimeter, bench power supply and related test equipment.
- Good soldering and PCB rework skills, including SMT and through-hole components.
- Experience or formal training in safe work with AC/DC power and mains-powered electronics.
- Ability to organize and complete assigned bench work, document findings, communicate clearly and seek technical review for design or safety decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with switching power supplies, AC/DC or DC/DC converters, LED drivers, inverters or related power electronics.
- Exposure to microcontrollers, embedded hardware and interfaces such as UART, I2C, SPI, RS-485, CAN or Ethernet.
- Exposure to EMI/EMC troubleshooting, product-safety testing or regulatory requirements such as UL, CSA, FCC or ISED.
- Experience with PCB manufacturing, production testing, design for manufacturability or design for test.
Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
