We are seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to join the team in our Toronto office. Reporting to EXACT’s Lead Hardware Engineer, you will be a key contributor in the design, development, and testing of EXACT’s hardware products. This is an ideal role for someone with proven hardware design experience, looking to build on their hands-on experience across mechanical and electronic product development.

This role offers close collaboration with our technical leadership, and the opportunity to be a part of product development as our company scales.

In this role, you will be tasked to:

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for new and existing products
  • Mentor and guide junior team members on schematic capture, PCB layout, and design best practices.
  • Assist with schematic capture and PCB layout under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Create and maintain design documentation including CAD models, mechanical drawings, block diagrams, and bills of materials (mBOMs and eBOMs)
  • Participate in prototyping activities, including assembling, testing, and iterating on early-stage designs
  • Help evaluate and select components and materials
  • Lead the resolution of complex design issues identified during prototyping and testing
  • Define and execute verification and validation test plans.
  • Contribute to validation and verification testing by executing test plans and documenting results
  • Drive the transition of designs from prototype to production, including documentation and basic test setup
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Quality teams on component selection and vendor coordination as needed
  • Prepare clear and concise technical documentation, including test reports and work instructions
  • Provide general engineering support across ongoing product development activities

To be successful in this role, you possess the following:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant industry experience in hardware product design
  • Solid knowledge of Design Control best practices for HW and FW.
  • Proven experience in end-to-end product development lifecycles.
  • Design experience related to 3D CAD, tolerance design, FW coding to control microcontrollers, power, digital, and analog circuits designA natural desire, ability and talent to integrate mechanical, electronic and software engineering
  • Proficiency with Fusion360, Solidworks or similar tools
  • Solid knowledge of Altium Designer or similar tools
  • Experience with task management and revision control tools such as Jira and Git
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn in a hands-on environment
  • Comfortable working collaboratively and asking questions when needed
  • Ability to communicate technical details with various internal/external stakeholders and 3rd-party vendors
  • Strong organizational skills
