Chief Jacob Bearspaw School (CJBS) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Junior and Senior High Math and Science Teacher to join our K–12 learning community in beautiful Eden Valley, Alberta. CJBS is committed to fostering academic excellence while honouring and preserving Stoney Nakoda language, culture, and traditions through meaningful relationships with students, families, and the community.

About the School

Chief Jacob Bearspaw School serves students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 and is located in Eden Valley, Alberta. The school strives to prepare students for success in post-secondary education, careers, and life while promoting pride in Stoney culture and identity.

Key Responsibilities

● Teach Mathematics and Science courses at the Junior High (Grades 7–9) and Senior High

(Grades 10–12) levels.

● Develop engaging, student-centred lessons aligned with the Alberta curriculum.

● Create an inclusive, respectful, and culturally responsive classroom environment.

● Use a variety of instructional and assessment strategies to support student success.

● Collaborate with colleagues, parents, Elders, and community members to enhance student

learning.

● Integrate Indigenous perspectives and culturally relevant teaching practices into instruction.

● Support extracurricular activities, school initiatives, and student leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

● Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligibility to obtain one).

● Bachelor's Degree in Education

● Strong classroom management and instructional skills.

● Commitment to providing differentiated learning to diverse learners.

● Knowledge of Alberta curriculum and assessment practices.

● Commitment to reconciliation and culturally responsive education.

● Experience working with Indigenous students and communities is considered a strong asset.
