As our newest Environmental Risk Assessor , you will play an important role in supporting this mission.
Working within our national Risk Assessment team, you will contribute to a variety of complex environmental projects while applying your regulatory knowledge and continuing to expand your expertise in provincial and federal requirements. In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and regulators to develop technical scopes of work, prepare proposals, and support the successful management and delivery of projects.
This role offers exceptional opportunities for professional growth, providing the chance to work on projects from coast to coast and collaborate with experienced teams across North America, all while gaining exposure to a wide range of regulatory frameworks, environmental challenges, and consulting practices. Working on complex, multidisciplinary projects across sectors such as mining, oil and gas, land development, and federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal jurisdictions will allow you to continually deepen your technical expertise . You’ll also gain valuable experience navigating emerging contaminants and engaging with diverse stakeholders, including regulators, Indigenous communities, industry partners, and the general public . T his variety will not only strengthen your technical foundation, but accelerate your development as a well ‑ rounded environmental professional capable of leading in dynamic and evolving practice areas.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include

Develop and deliver human health and ecological risk assessments, risk management plans, performance verification plans, etc. in accordance with provincial, territorial, and federal regulatory frameworks

Support proposal development, including contributing to project scoping, planning, and budgeting activities.
-
Evaluate site-specific physical characteristics, environmental data, receptor exposure assumptions, and toxicity information to inform the development of exposure and risk models.
-
Prepare detailed conceptual site models by consolidating and interpreting field data, laboratory results, and other relevant site and receptor information.
-
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare high-quality technical reports and effectively communicate findings to clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.

Contribute to proposal writing and provide technical support to projects led by other disciplines, such as site assessment and ecology.

Mentor and support junior staff, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team.

Qualifications
-
Graduate degree in biology, toxicology, chemistry, soil science, geoscience, or related scientific field .
-
This position is suited for an intermediate environmental risk assessor who is comfortable leading technical components of projects while continuing to expand their expertise in risk assessment and regulatory frameworks.
-
5 to 10 + years of experience in preparing high-quality human health and/or ecological risk assessments for a variety of audiences including clients and other stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and regulators .
-
Hands-on experience in environmental data collection and evaluation, including the design and implementation of community surveys.
-
Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated proficiency in data management, spreadsheet development, and automation.
-
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams, prepare clear technical reports, and develop engaging presentation materials.
-
Experience with scope development, budgeting, and proposal prepar ation .
-
Working knowledge of biological and toxicological studies (e.g., benthic community assessments, toxicity tests etc.), an asset .
-
Experience with risk assessments under O.Reg . 153/04, an asset .
-
Experience with soil vapour and indoor air quality assessments at contaminated sites, an asset . ,

Valid driver’s license and willingness to occasionally travel to sites/clients

Membership or eligibility for membership in a professional organization (e.g., R.P.Bio ., P.Geo ., P.Eng., P.Ag ., P.Chem . , or QPRA).
