Company Overview:

Founded on a dessert-making tradition dating back over 60 years in Naples, Italy, La Rocca Creative Cakes has been a cornerstone of premium dessert manufacturing in Canada since 1986. The company has grown into one of North America’s most respected suppliers to leading retail and foodservice customers.

La Rocca operates a complex, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment, delivering consistent quality while meeting stringent food safety, regulatory, and customer requirements. The organization is now entering its next phase of growth as part of Sammontana Italia, one of Italy’s most established and respected dessert companies.

Role Purpose:

This role maintains the upkeep of all equipment in the business so that the plant and business operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all laws and bylaws. This role also participates in certain company projects related to utilities & safety.

Reports to: Plant & Facilities Operator.

Annual salary range: $75,000 to $85,000.

Shift: Wednesday to Sunday (Afternoon Shift), 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
Days Off: Monday and Tuesday.

Key Responsibilities:

● Repair and maintain production and building equipment as needed; including but not limited to depositors, conveyors, freezers, fridges, sealers and packaging equipment.

● Project participation for installation of new equipment, building modifications.

● Problem-solve through daily, weekly, monthly challenges in the operation, including, but not limited to production, wastewater, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cooling, building, facilities and safety.

● Maintaining healthy, safe and hygienic work practices, ensuring implementation of all policies and procedures and compliance of all relevant legislation.

● Working with the quality control department ensuring strict adherence to Quality Control protocols and standards.

● Work with production management to schedule routine PM program activities.

● Comply with all company, customer, and legislative food safety, health & safety, and environmental policies and procedures.

Performance Indicators:

● Bakery productivity, with tracked results in KPI dashboard - CPH.

● Downtime Tracking.

● Compliance of QA, BRC, HACCP, GMP and Health & Safety policies - AA rating.

● Preventive Maintenance program tracking.

● Work order completion rate.

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications:

● Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in facilities or maintenance department. Experience in a F&B operation is preferred.

● Experience in installing and coordinating the installation of new equipment.

● Experience troubleshooting/managing facility items, including, but not limited to, electrical, wastewater, structural, renovations, etc.

● A post-secondary degree/ Trade Certification in, Mechanical, or a related discipline will be mandatory.

● Superior communication skills in a multicultural environment and the ability to deal with a variety of front-line industrial relations issues.

● Knowledge of good labour/management practices including progressive discipline and positive reinforcement techniques.

● The flexibility to adapt to a dynamic operation schedule.

● Experience with Google G Suite, MS Office or equivalents preferred.

● Strong knowledge of applicable Health and Safety regulations and BRC regulations.

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
