Full job description

KIN-DIR Education Foundation is a not-for-profit, Alberta Education approved, independent ECS operator in Calgary and area. We screen, assess, and treat developmental delays and disabilities in children 2 years 8 months old to kindergarten age. Our team consists of therapists (Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists) and educators specializing in early childhood development. We also work with families regarding challenging behaviors, developmental tasks, and positive parenting. The services are provided in a variety of settings such as preschools, daycares and in-home.

We are looking for a full-time Learning Support Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Act as the main point of contact and team coordinator within teams and parents
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with parents/guardians and support team
  • Create, in collaboration with parents/guardians and support team, an Individualized Program Plan (IPP) for each funded child enrolled in the program
  • Responsible for communicating the IPP, and any additions/progress therein, to parents/guardians and support team on an on-going basis
  • Ensure alignment of relevant IPP goals through consultation with parents, therapists and team members
  • Establish a positive relationship with the child while supporting their learning needs
  • Set up and facilitate meetings for support team and families on a regular basis
  • Act as a mentor to the preschool teacher
  • Ensure that the Teacher Quality Standards is applied to all children in the program
  • Delegate daily tasks and schedules
  • Allocate assigned personnel to support the developmental needs of the children
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean educational environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent (mandatory)
  • Master of Education degree from an accredited Canadian institution with focus on early childhood and special education (preferred)
  • Valid teaching certificate issued by the Province of Alberta (Permanent Professional Certification or Interim Professional Certification)
  • Demonstrated post-graduate training or certification in working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other associated complex neurological disorders (preferred)
  • Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention
  • Knowledge in IPP creation with measurable goals
  • Strong understanding of positive behaviour support strategies

Pay: $59,000.00-$92,000.00 per year
