POSITION SUMMARY
Temporary Full-Time- Six Months Contract
Community Living Cambridge (CLC) ensures that individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities are supported through meaningful opportunities and experiences. The Behavioural Therapist will provide assistance and direction to staff of all CLC programs in the designated area of Behavioural Support Services. The Behavioural Therapist responds to all organizational needs related to the behavioural needs of supported individuals, either in person or by phone calls from staff seeking direction in situations relating to an individual’s escalation of behaviour, BSP, serious occurrences and incident reports. The Behavioural Therapist will provide support to all areas of CLC in accordance with the philosophies, policies. The Behavioural Therapist must respect the rights, confidentiality and dignity of each individual in keeping with the policies, mission and value statements of CLC.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in developing and reviewing behavioural support plans and positive behavioural interventions, utilizing the principles of Applied Behavioural Analysis (where applicable).
- Collaborate with Managers in the training, development and performance management of staff.
- Collaborate with team as well as inter-disciplinary members to ensure a high quality, well-integrated approach.
- Support and maintain positive working relationships with external agencies, individuals, families, and community professionals.
- Participate in regular team meetings, behavioural support meetings and assist in the development of creative solutions to individual and programming challenges.
- Works with staff, families, and other professionals to teach, develop, implement, and evaluate behavioural support plans and life skill programs; provides ongoing training and leadership to staff in the implementation of change programs.
- Monitors the implementation of Behavioural Support Plans, on an ongoing basis; includes on-site observation, feedback, data input, data analysis, data summaries and program review; ensures O. Reg. 299/10 Quality Assurance Measures and internal agency policies are met.
- Facilitate specialized workshops (e.g., challenging behaviours) providing instruction, resource information, and support to the person, families and/or staff.
- Orientate and train new employees with respect to Behavioural Support Plans and positive support strategies.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Pressures
As a Behavioural Therapist, stress is an inherent part of the role. The Behavioural Therapist will interact with supported individuals, staff, families and community members who are experiencing stressful situations related to challenging or escalating behaviours. Being able to manage these sometimes-significant levels of stress is an essential duty of the role.
Working Hours
The Behavioural Therapist must be flexible around their working hours. They must be available to work evenings and weekends, including being a part of the crisis team on a rotational basis.

This position will work out of designated programs where there are identified needs. There may also be some remote work if applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of diploma in Autism and Behavioural Science from a recognized College or a degree in Disability Studies Degree or a related field or a Master’s degree in process in related field. Opportunity for CPBAO supervision hours.
- Experience working with Adults with Disabilities, Dual Diagnosis preferred
- Experience with developing and implementing behavioural support plans
- Knowledge of Applied Behavioural Analysis
- Experience with staff training, supervision and support
- Ability to work in a team as well as independently
- Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on collaboration
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Current Vulnerable Sector check
- Should have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
