Full job description

Summit School has been at the forefront of special needs education in Canada since 1963. We are a private, English school situated in Saint-Laurent, Montreal, recognized and subsidized in the public interest by the Ministere de l'Education et de l'Enseignement Superieur. Our school serves 670 students aged 4 to 21 with a range of difficulties including intellectual disabilities, autism, and/or behavioral and emotional. We are currently looking for a dynamic, motivated and creative individual to join our inter-disciplinary team as a classroom teacher.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP.
  • Carries out engaging and creative lesson plans based on Quebec Education programs.
  • Schedules meetings and works cooperatively with team members and others in developing instructional goals and strategies.
  • Ability to integrate various technological tools within the classroom (Smartboards and ipads).
  • Serves as primary contact for the parent.
  • Create and implements IEPS, and progress reports
  • Conducts assessments to establish students’ levels and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
  • Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of educational assistants as directed.

Requirements 

  • B.Ed from a recognized university and a Quebec Teaching brevet
  • Ability to work in an inter-disciplinary team
  • Ability to integrate feedback from professionals
  • Demonstrates patience and the ability to be flexible
  • Comfortable with classroom technology and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with special needs an asset

Depuis 1963, école Le Sommet est un chef de file en matière d'éducation spécialisée au Canada. Notre école privée anglophone, située à Saint-Laurent, à Montréal, est reconnue et subventionnée dans l'intérêt public par le ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur. Nous accueillons 645 élèves âgés de 4 à 21 ans présentant diverses difficultés, notamment une déficience intellectuelle, l'autisme et/ou des troubles du comportement et des difficultés émotionnelles. Nous recherchons actuellement une personne dynamique, motivée et créative pour se joindre à notre équipe interdisciplinaire à titre d'enseignant(e).

Responsabilités

Dispense un enseignement conforme aux objectifs pédagogiques énoncés dans le plan d’intervention individualisé (PII) de chaque élève.

Conçoit des leçons stimulantes et créatives, inspirées des programmes d’éducation du Québec.

Planifie des réunions et collabore avec les membres de l’équipe et les autres intervenants à l’élaboration des objectifs et des stratégies pédagogiques.

Utilise divers outils technologiques en classe (tableaux interactifs et tablettes).

Agit comme principal point de contact pour les parents.

Crée et met en œuvre les PII et rédige les bulletins de progrès.

Évalue les élèves afin de déterminer leur niveau et d’identifier les besoins de soutien supplémentaire ou d’ajustement des techniques pédagogiques.

Encadrer, superviser et évaluer les aides pédagogiques, selon les directives.

Exigences Baccalauréat en éducation d'une université reconnue et brevet d'enseignement du Québec Capacité à travailler au sein d'une équipe interdisciplinaire Capacité à intégrer la rétroaction des professionnels Patience et flexibilité Maîtrise des outils technologiques en classe et de la suite Microsoft Office Expérience auprès d'élèves ayant des besoins particuliers (un atout)
