Pay Range: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour

Schedule: Currently 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This schedule is subject to change to 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM during the fall. Flexibility and on-call availability are required.

The Future of Produce

For over 80 years, Burnac Produce Ltd. has been bringing the world’s freshest fruits and vegetables to tables across Canada and the U.S. From one truck and a dream to becoming the nation’s largest produce supplier, our growth is built on quality, trust, and innovation. We partner with growers locally and globally to deliver exceptional freshness and reliability—every time, without compromise.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to ensure the heart of our operation—our production and packaging lines—runs at peak performance. In this role, you will be responsible for the uptime and safety of high-volume distribution equipment, directly impacting our ability to deliver fresh produce to our customers every day.

What We Provide

We offer comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, plus life and disability insurance. You’ll also have access to our Employee Assistance Program for mental health and wellness, and a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose root causes of machinery failures in conveyors, sealers, fillers, and palletizers to minimize downtime.
  • Set up and calibrate equipment for rapid production changeovers and new packaging runs.
  • Technical Interpretation: Read and apply blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics to ensure precise repairs.
  • Track spare parts and tools to ensure critical supplies are available for urgent maintenance.
  • Uphold strict safety standards, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and food safety protocols (GMP).
  • Partner with production and quality teams to prioritize tasks during peak operational windows.

What You Bring

Must-haves:

  • 1-3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within food processing or distribution.
  • Strong technical aptitude in hydraulics, pneumatics, drives, belts, and bearings.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex industrial machinery and automated systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; hands-on proficiency with diagnostic tools.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably in varied warehouse conditions.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Technical diploma or trade certification in industrial maintenance or mechanical technology.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-volume produce or cold-storage environment.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance planning software.

This position does not require Canadian experience beyond the skills and qualifications listed above.

Work Environment

  • Dynamic production floor and cold-storage areas with fluctuating temperatures.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring focus near moving equipment and noise.
  • Currently 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, subject to change to 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM during the fall; flexibility and on-call availability required.

Application Screening

Applications may be screened using automated tools or qualification-based questions to assess whether minimum job requirements are met.
