Advanced First Aid Attendant (OFA Level 3)

Irwin's Safety offers project-based, medic work that gives you flexibility, and a pathway to advance your career in occupational health and safety. Travel and accommodation are provided on applicable projects.

Irwin's Safety has grown from Williams Lake, BC in 2009 to more than 20 offices across Canada. We provide full-cycle Health, Safety & Environment, Risk Management, and Industrial Labour solutions to clients in mining, energy, construction, manufacturing, transportation, and First Nations communities. Our Emergency Response division is actively building regional capacity for industrial medics — and that's where you come in.

We are currently recruiting Advanced First Aid Attendants on a casual, project-based basis for on-site medical coverage, across our office regions. Project length and shift schedules vary by client; assignments may range from short-duration coverage to long-term placements with 10-hour shifts up to 7 days per week.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Advanced Standard First Aid or OFA Level 3 certificate (minimum)
  • Must possess a valid, Class 5 (or better) driver’s license, minimum 3 years licensed as a Canadian driver and a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Good physical health and ability to work extended shifts on a sustained basis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams) and Office 365
  • Previous experience as a medic or industrial First Aid Attendant an asset
  • Working knowledge of WorkSafeBC OHSR and applicable WCB standards and regulations
  • Strong communication skills; self-motivated and safety-oriented team player
  • Ability to pass client-site orientations, including drug & alcohol testing and security clearances

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site first aid and medical coverage for client projects under direction of the Irwin's Occupational First Aid team
  • Respond to medical emergencies and first aid calls on short notice
  • Administer patient assessments and first aid in accordance with WorkSafeBC standards
  • Administer drug & alcohol testing on site as required by the client
  • Maintain readiness, cleanliness, and supplies of the First Aid room
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and medical incident reports
  • Support site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and shared vigilance with the worker group
  • Report findings, observations, and trends to the Irwin's H&S team and assigned site lead

Irwin's Safety operates from 20+ offices across Canada. We are actively building casual / contractor bench strength in all the following regions:

Candidates outside these regions are welcome to apply for project-based travel work.
