Full job description

Lina’s Italian Market is home to many for over 28 years of service. The market hosts many unique and imported items that are sought by many culinary-minded individuals. Our staff is deep rooted in each department of the store from Catering, Fresh Meat, Deli, Bakery, Café, and Grocery. We recently received awards Best of Calgary International Market. Third Place winner of pizza chef of the year. Our work environment is hard work in a fast-paced environment and above all mutual respect within our eclectic team.

Your Responsibilities:

The right candidate will have the ability to work with the public in a highly customer service driven department while at the same time thriving on a fast pace will be key ingredients for your success in our deli department.

  • Ensure product is presented to achieve maximum sales/profits and follow correct stock rotation;
  • Professionally slice cheeses and cold cuts to exceed customer's expectations;
  • Create deli tray and boxes for catering purposes;
  • Resolve customer concerns, inquiries, and requests, with customer service as your priority;
  • Maintain extreme cleanliness, including product prep areas, merchandise cases, tables, and shelves.
  • Ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are maintained.

Skills and Qualifications:

We’re looking for professional, organized workers who have a healthy sense of adventure and a strong knowledge and experience base.

  • Comprehensive deli product knowledge;
  • Slicing cheeses and cured meats
  • Preparing trays and display nicely all our cold cuts selection;
  • Ability to price merchandise in accordance with marketing guidelines;
  • Experience training and scheduling staff;
  • Ability to inspect, correctly store, and rotate product;
  • Highly motivated with a passion to bring our communities products and services to live better;
  • Ability to cook and prepare products according to company guidelines;
  • Strong and effective communication skills, both verbally and written; and
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and prioritize tasks.
