Bar Manager - Paris Paris Wine Bar & Restaurant

About Us

Paris Paris is a modern wine bar and restaurant located in the heart of Toronto's Ossington neighbourhood. We are known for our thoughtful wine program, seasonal food menu, warm hospitality, and creating memorable experiences for our guests.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Bar Manager to join our leadership team and oversee all aspects of our bar operations. This role is ideal for someone who is a natural leader, hospitality-driven, and excited to help develop a high-performing team while maintaining exceptional service standards.

The Bar Manager will play a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations, supporting our beverage program, training and mentoring staff, and creating an environment where both guests and team members feel valued.

Key Responsibilities:
Bar Operations & Service Leadership

  • Oversee daily bar operations to ensure efficient, organized, and high-quality service
  • Lead bar service during busy periods while maintaining exceptional guest experiences
  • Ensure consistent execution of beverage standards, recipes, presentation, and service expectations
  • Support the development and evolution of the beverage program alongside the leadership team
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of wine, cocktails, spirits, beer, and beverage pairings

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and coach bar team members
  • Create a positive, supportive, and accountable work environment
  • Conduct ongoing training to improve beverage knowledge, service standards, and operational efficiency
  • Provide feedback and performance coaching to team members
  • Build strong relationships with staff and encourage professional growth

Inventory & Cost Management

  • Manage bar inventory, ordering, receiving, and organization
  • Monitor beverage costs, waste, and product usage
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts and communicate ordering needs
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of all beverage products

Guest Experience & Hospitality

  • Lead by example in delivering warm, knowledgeable, and attentive hospitality
  • Handle guest feedback and service recovery with professionalism
  • Build relationships with regular guests and create memorable experiences
  • Support reservations, events, and special guest requests when required

Compliance & Operations

  • Ensure compliance with Ontario alcohol service regulations and responsible beverage service standards
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and health & safety standards throughout the bar
  • Ensure proper cash handling procedures and accurate POS usage
  • Work closely with the kitchen, floor, and management teams to ensure seamless service

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a Bar Manager, Assistant Bar Manager, Beverage Lead, or similar hospitality leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of wine, cocktails, spirits, and beverage service
  • Experience managing, training, and developing hospitality teams
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced restaurant environment
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, ordering, and cost control
  • Experience with POS systems (Toast experience considered an asset)
  • Smart Serve certification required
  • Passion for hospitality, guest experience, and team culture
