UH Bariatric Surgery Clinic

Reporting to the Manager, the Registered Practical Nurse supports patient centered care in the Bariatric Surgery Clinic. The Registered Practical Nurse provides expert assessment, management and education for patients both before and after Bariatric surgery by using evidence-based practice and conforming to best practice guidelines. The Registered Practical Nurse acts as a member of the team to advocate and provide the care for patients and their families.

Regular Part-Time

  • Rate of Pay: $37.10 per hour - $37.77 per hour

Part-time employees receive a percentage in lieu of vacation and benefits, providing additional compensation on top of regular wages

  • Hours of work: No guarantee of hours

Part-time employees will have the opportunity to pick up additional shifts based on unit operational needs and availability

Qualifications

  • Current Certificate of General Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C) for which you can provide proof upon request
  • Minimum one (1) year recent general surgical experience
  • Recent experience in an Ambulatory Clinic preferred
  • Previous experience in Bariatric Surgery preferred
  • Ability to practice to full competency
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Cerner, HUGO, PACS Clinical Systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general surgical nursing principle
  • Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in a collaborative interdisciplinary team setting
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to function autonomously and to adapt to changing situations and varying workload
  • Demonstrated commitment to the achievement of goals and objectives in patient care
  • Demonstrated proven problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to life long learning and professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
