Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable Sales & Events Manager for the Delta Conference Centre, Guelph, ON!

Job Description:

This position is ideal for an experienced hotel sales and events professional who enjoys building strong client relationships, generating revenue, managing group business, and delivering exceptional events from initial inquiry through post event follow up.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing event and group business, including selling and contracting guestroom blocks, meeting space, catering, and related hotel services. This position requires strong sales, organizational, communication, negotiation, and customer service skills, with a focus on maximizing revenue while creating an exceptional guest experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively solicit, prospect, and develop new business opportunities for meetings, social events, group accommodations, and other hotel revenue streams.
  • Sell and contract guestroom blocks, meeting space, catering, and event related services to maximize hotel revenue and occupancy.
  • Manage the sales process from initial inquiry through contracting, room block management, event turnover, execution, and post event follow up.
  • Prepare, present, and negotiate proposals, contracts, room blocks, and event agreements in accordance with hotel policies and established guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue through upselling, upgrades, additional guestrooms, food and beverage, meeting space, audiovisual services, and other enhancements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients while actively developing new accounts and repeat business.
  • Conduct client appointments, site inspections, presentations, and sales calls as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely information within hotel sales and event management systems.
  • Monitor contracted room blocks and work closely with clients to maximize room pickup and ensure contractual commitments are achieved.

Event Management

  • Prepare all event documentation and coordinate with Sales, property departments, and clients to ensure consistent, high level service throughout the pre event, event, and post event phases.
  • Manage events of varying levels of complexity and ensure a seamless transition from sales to event execution and back to sales.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the client and hotel operations throughout the event process.
  • Coordinate and communicate event details, requirements, timelines, and changes both verbally and in writing to clients and property departments.
  • Conduct pre event planning meetings, Banquet Event Order meetings, room block reviews, and other operational meetings as required.
  • Greet clients and oversee the event experience, ensuring all contracted details are delivered accurately and professionally.
  • Work closely with Banquets, Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, and other departments to ensure successful event execution.
  • Remain accessible throughout the event to resolve issues, provide recommendations, and develop timely solutions when circumstances change.
  • Conduct bill reviews with clients and ensure billing accuracy prior to final processing.
  • Follow up with clients after the event to obtain feedback, address concerns, and identify opportunities for future business.
  • Participate in customer site inspections and support the sales process as required.
  • Solicit feedback from clients and internal departments to identify opportunities for service improvement.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and foster a culture of professionalism and hospitality throughout the guest experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the hotel's business needs.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of two years of hotel sales management experience, preferably within a full service hotel environment.
  • Previous experience managing group sales, guestroom blocks, contracts, meetings, and events.
  • Demonstrated experience in selling and contracting guestrooms and event related services.
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations, group business, and the relationship between sales and event execution.
  • Proven ability to prospect for new business, build client relationships, negotiate contracts, and achieve revenue objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and client requirements simultaneously.
  • Professional, confident, and service oriented approach to client and internal relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hotel sales and event management systems.
  • Previous Marriott experience is considered an asset.
  • Post secondary education in Hospitality, Business, Tourism, or a related field is considered an asset.
