SUMMARY

DLCG Mortgage Group is looking to add Compliance Officers to our Dominion Lending Centres and Mortgage Architects teams! Comprised of DLC, MCC, MA, and Newton with more than 8,000 mortgage agents across Canada, DLCG is Canada’s leading mortgage brokerage network. Providing both full-service and franchise options, first class systems, and marketing support for its mortgage agent workforce, DLCG attracts the best mortgage professionals in Canada with its sound business practices, key lender relationships and customer-first approach.

As a key member of the processing team, the Compliance Officer is responsible for reviewing and authorizing mortgage compliance files for commission payroll processing. With an audit focus, the Compliance Officer determines any deficiencies or omissions in the creation of a complete mortgage file. The Compliance Officer reports deficiencies to mortgage agents for corrective measure, and re-reviews rectified deficiencies to complete authorization and sign-off.

The Compliance Officer reports directly to the VP of Corporate Services and is required to perform a variety of processing functions under strict timelines while maintaining customer service levels second to none. The role also involves responding to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a forthright and friendly manner resulting in positive outcomes and experiences.

KEY TASKS

Review and Approve Mortgage Files:

  • Evaluate and authorize mortgage files for commission authorization.
  • With an audit focus, review mortgage documents, client agreements, credit bureaus, mandatory forms/disclosures, lender commitments and other material in the creation of a full and complete mortgage file.
  • Communicate file deficiencies and corrective measures to relevant parties.
  • Collect and ensure the correction of file deficiencies or omissions.

Compliance and Brokerage Operations:

  • Respond to and manage compliance-related emails and inquiries.
  • Post corrections and updates to internal systems.
  • Coordinate the signature of required forms and manage credit bureau interactions.

Reporting and Audits:

  • Compile and distribute departmental production reports.
  • Manage and maintain investor/lender audit information and files.
  • Track and report key regulatory statistics.
  • Assist with annual reporting and licensing processes.

Agent Support and Training:

  • Provide coaching and training to agents on compliance platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to compliance and operational systems.
  • Respond to and escalate inquiries from internal and external clients.

Policy and Procedure Management:

  • Recommend and implement policies and procedures to streamline operations.
  • Communicate policy and procedure updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Understand and communicate the impact of inaccuracies on operational flow.

Operational Support:

  • Support Vice Presidents, mortgage brokers/agents, and franchisees in managing deal and operating practices.
  • Coordinate and ensure a seamless entrance experience for new entrants.

Special Projects and Engagement:

  • Participate in special projects to support organizational objectives.
  • Seek out opportunities for further engagement within the organization.

Cross-Departmental Support:

  • Assist with work overflow in other departments.
  • Provide coverage for team members during vacations and absences.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn inquiry functions in back-office processing systems.
  • Ability to resolve technical issues.

Language Skills:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Spoken/Written French is an asset.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, plus two years of related work experience in the mortgage industry, banking operations or regulatory compliance experience is preferred.
  • Two years of administration work experience.
  • FSRA Mortgage Broker or Mortgage Agent license preferred.
  • Sound understanding of the Mortgage Broker industry, mortgage lending, consumer lending in the traditional and alternative space.
  • Understanding of provincial licensing authorities, audit, and compliance for a mortgage brokerage across Canada
  • Fluency in English (written and oral)
  • A combination of education and experience in a related field/industry will be considered.

COMPENSATION

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package which will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, starting at $55,000/year.

TERM & HOURS

Full-time, permanent

Location: Port Coquitlam, BC or Mississauga, ON

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
