Full job description

Pets Canada provides guidance and resources to pet businesses and helps to advance the well-being of Canada’s animals. The Marketing & Social Media Specialist focuses on growing the organization’s brand presence and driving engagement across both traditional and digital channels. This role combines strategic marketing execution with hands-on digital content creation, ensuring alignment with Pets Canada’s goals and consistent, high-quality communication across all platforms. The position has the possibility of either hybrid work access or fully remote.

In this role, the bilingual Marketing & Social Media Specialist will be responsible in ensuring consistent branding and developing marketing efforts to promote the activities of Pets Canada and grow the association’s brand visibility the country. You will also be tasked with producing content, responding to feedback, and tracking effectiveness of marketing campaigns.

This position requires a self-motivated, organized person, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French. This role requires at least three years of experience in marketing and digital operations. The Marketing & Social Media Specialist will report directly to the Communications Director. Support may be provided to other senior positions, as required.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Brand Growth

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies to enhance brand awareness of the association and support core organizational objectives.
  • Support member and stakeholder outreach through traditional marketing channels, including:
  • Biweekly e‑Newsbrief
  • Print materials
  • Promotional copy
  • Annual report
  • Awards
  • Exhibitor marketing assets
  • Ensure all communications reflect the organization’s voice, mission, and strategic direction.

Digital Marketing & Campaigns

  • Co-develop, implement, and optimize digital marketing campaigns across web, social, and email platforms.
  • Monitor digital engagement trends, tools, and best practices to ensure ongoing improvement.

Social Media Oversight

  • Day-to-day management of social media channels, ensuring consistent posting, alignment with brand standards, and proactive audience engagement.
  • Respond to comments, messages, and member posts to strengthen relationships and grow online communities.

Content Creation

  • Produce high quality, engaging content across formats, including:
  • Content writing tailored to multiple audiences (focus on socials and emails).
  • Some graphic design for digital and print materials
  • Short-form video content (reels, clips)
  • Collaborate with internal teams and outside marketing agency to develop materials that support programs, events, advocacy, and outreach.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Analyze metrics from online platforms to measure engagement, reach, and performance.
  • Use data insights to refine marketing approaches and improve audience engagement across member, non-member, stakeholder, and public groups.

Education, Licenses and/or Certification, Experience Required

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing and social media management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, and digital content production skills.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Meta Insights, Google Analytics, email marketing dashboards).
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively in a not-for-profit environment.
  • Ability to invite and build upon the ideas and input of others
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Possess excellent time management skills and attention to detail

Pay: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
