The Below the Wing (BTW) Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all ground operations related to the handling and servicing of aircraft below the wing. This includes ensuring the efficient and safe execution of tasks such as aircraft loading and unloading, baggage handling, and equipment maintenance.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Supervise Ground Operations: Manage and coordinate all below the wing operations to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance department to ensure the inspection and repair of ground support equipment such as baggage carts, tugs, belt loaders, and other machinery. Enforce maintenance schedules and protocols to ensure equipment is always in optimal working condition.
  • Safety Management: Implement and maintain safety procedures to ensure the welfare of all ground crew members and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of ground operations personnel, providing training and support to optimize performance and enhance productivity.
  • Operational Efficiency: Monitor and optimize operational processes to reduce turnaround times and improve efficiency.
  • Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication between ground crew, flight crew, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  • Resource Management: Manage resources, including personnel and equipment, to ensure effective allocation and utilization.
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve any operational issues that arise, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure we are capturing all additional services for billing to generate additional revenues.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or equivalent field experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation ground operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of ground support equipment maintenance and repair protocols. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Safety Knowledge: Understanding of safety regulations and practices relevant to aviation ground operations.

Work Environment

The Below the Wing (BTW) Operations Manager will primarily work in an airport environment, with exposure to various weather conditions and the noise of aircraft operations. The role may require flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
