Job Description: CAD Modeler

A dynamic and growing organization, Adaptall is looking for an experienced CAD Modeler to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario!

Adaptall specializes in the conversion of hydraulic adapters and fittings, between International (“Metric”) and American (“Imperial”) thread types. Adaptall opened its doors in the spring of 1985 and has grown to have a strong presence in the hydraulic adapter industry with locations in Mississauga, ON, Pickering, ON, Twinsburg, OH and Houston, TX.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in CAD modeling, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience in 3D modeling are essential. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously will be key to success in this role.

Responsible for creating 3D models and 2D drawings of products, components, and assemblies usingcomputer-aided design (CAD) software. Work closely with team members to ensure that the designs meet all requirements and specifications.

Proficient in CAD software and have strong problem-solving skills. Creativity, attention to detail, and good communication skills are also important.

A strong understanding of engineering principles and be able to create accurate models and drawings. They must be able to work within tight deadlines and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.

As a CAD Modeler, you will play a critical role in the design and development process of our projects. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Creating Designs Using AutoCAD: Utilize AutoCAD software to create and update CAD drawings and reference drawings in accordance with project specifications.

Design types include hydraulic fittings, product packaging, cases and displays.

  • Manage and Organize CAD Files: Create and maintain a well-organized digital master database repository of all CAD files. This includes ensuring that files are properly named, categorized, and archived for easy access and reference, thereby enhancing team efficiency and project workflow.
  • 3D Modeling Support for Marketing: Beyond core geometric drafting, you will utilize texturing and lighting to transform technical blueprints into photorealistic 3D renderings. By expertly applying material shaders, surface textures, and studio lighting, you will produce high-fidelity visuals directly from our engineering data, delivering stunning, commercially viable assets for our marketing materials, client presentations, and digital catalogs.
  • Website and product data improvement recommendations:
  • Create 3D Drawings from 2D Sketches: Transform 2D sketches into comprehensive 3D drawings.
  • Developing Product Designs from Scratch: Engage in the creative process of developing new product designs, starting from conceptualization to the final design. This process involves hands-on validation and documentation of product dimensions utilizing measuring devices to ensure designs meet all requirements.
  • Finalizing AutoCAD Models: Take responsibility for the finalization of AutoCAD models, ensuring that they meet all specifications and design requirements. This includes conducting thorough reviews and making necessary adjustments to designs before final submission.
  • Maintain Documentation of Designs: Keep comprehensive records of all design documents, including drafts, revisions, and final designs.
  • Providing an Approximate Project Completion Timeline: Estimate project timelines based on the scope of the CAD tasks involved.
  • Revises Drawings and Completes Standard Calculations: Regularly revise drawings to incorporate changes and updates. Additionally, perform standard calculations to ensure designs are viable and comply with industry standards.
  • Attend Regular Development Meetings: Participate in regular meetings with project teams to discuss design requirements, project progress, and to provide updates on CAD-related tasks.
  • Completing Job Reports: Prepare and submit detailed job reports that document the progress and completion of CAD-related tasks.

Degree: Minimum of an associate’s degree in CAD, Engineering, Design, or a related technical field (bachelor’s degree preferred).

Skillset: Strong technical command of industry-standard CAD software and modeling principles.

Graphic design skills are an asset to the position

Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
