Full job description

A frontline fundraiser responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding high-net-worth individuals. MGOs manage dedicated donor portfolios, building personal relationships to secure major donations (typically $10,000 to $100,000+) that directly advance an organization's mission and strategic goals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Management: Manage an active portfolio of 100100 to 150150 donors and prospects, guiding them through the entire donor pipeline
  • Donor Cultivation: Meet with prospects face-to-face to build rapport, uncover their philanthropic interests, and align them with the organization’s funding priorities
  • Solicitation: Develop tailored solicitation strategies and directly ask for major gifts, multi-year pledges, and planned giving options.
  • Stewardship: Maintain high-touch relationships with existing donors, ensuring they receive impact reports, financial updates, and recognition for their contributions.
  • Prospect Research: Collaborate with internal research teams to identify potential donors using wealth-screening tools and public financial records.
  • Data Tracking: Document all donor interactions, call reports, and strategic plans within the organization's CRM (e.g., Raiser's Edge).
  • Key Performance Metrics
  • Face-to-Face Visits: 100+ substantive donor meetings conducted per year.
  • Solicitations: A targeted number of formal funding proposals presented annually.
  • Revenue Goals: Meeting or exceeding a personal fundraising target (often ranging from $500,000 to $1M+ depending on the organization).
  • Donor Retention: Maintaining or upgrading the giving levels of current major donors.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 33 to 5+ years of progressive fundraising or development experience, with a proven track record of closing major gifts.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal, listening, and persuasive public speaking skills.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to map out customized, long-term cultivation strategies for diverse prospects.
  • Empathy: A passion for the organization’s cause and the ability to help donors achieve their personal philanthropic ambitions.

Pay: $69,944.01-$180,404.88 per year
