Day Program Group Facilitator – Orléans, Ontario (Ottawa Area)

Job Types: Full-Time: Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM (No weekends)

Wage: $21.00 – $22.00 per hour (includes permanent government wage enhancement)

Work Location: On-site, In-person

About the Position: As a Day Program Group Facilitator, you will confidently lead small groups and support individuals with developmental disabilities, behavioral disorders, and varying levels of functioning. Our day programs feature a variety of specialized groups, and you will play an important role in helping each participant thrive. You’ll work directly with individuals of all genders, backgrounds, and abilities, including those who are Deaf or hard of hearing, blind or visually impaired, and individuals with intellectual, learning, or mental health disabilities.

Daily Responsibilities Include: Providing daily living support; evaluating individual developmental needs; supervising daily program activities; conflict resolution; administering medications according to policy; implementing behavior management strategies; planning special events; coordinating with social services and healthcare providers; developing outcome measures and intervention models; maintaining program statistics; and assisting in evaluating treatment effectiveness. Additional duties may be assigned based on agency needs.

Required Skills: Strong communication (verbal, reading, writing), active listening, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, crisis management, organization, planning, and small group leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of post-secondary study in a related field (e.g., Developmental Service Worker, Community Service Worker, Psychology, ABA, Criminology), OR 2+ years of direct experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Child Abuse Registry Check (free of charge)
  • valid CPR/First Aid Certification, valid G or G2 driver’s license
  • proof of insurance,
  • 3-Year Driver's Abstract.

If you're passionate about working in social services but lack formal education or experience, the BCRS Counselor Development Program offers a paid, hands-on training pathway into the field. This structured 3-month program prepares you for a Group Facilitator role through direct mentorship from our Agency Trainer, Clinical Team, and senior staff. Many Counselor Development Program graduates go on to secure permanent positions and build fulfilling careers within BCRS.

What You'll Learn: Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) fundamentals, crisis intervention techniques, daily support routines, and hands-on experience supporting individuals with behavioral and developmental needs in both day and residential settings.

Program Details:

Duration: 400 hours (approx. 3 months)

Schedule: 32.5 hours/week

Starting Wage: $17.60/hour + $3.00/hour wage enhancement

Wage After Successful Completion:

Day Program: $18.50–$19.00/hour + $3.00/hour

Requirements: Must have a valid G or G2 driver’s license, willingness to assist with personal hygiene care, and a commitment to complete the full 3-month training period.
