Full job description

ABA Instructor Therapist – Part-Time

Nexus Therapy is seeking enthusiastic and experienced ABA Instructor Therapists / Behaviour Therapists to provide individualized Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) services to children and youth in their homes.

This position is based in Ottawa and surrounding areas and involves providing one-to-one therapy to preschool-aged children, school-aged children, and adolescents (ages 0–18) under the clinical supervision of a RBA.

We are looking for reliable, compassionate, and motivated individuals who enjoy working directly with children and are committed to helping clients develop meaningful communication, behavioural, social, adaptive, and academic skills.

Compensation

  • $90.00 per 3-hour direct therapy visit from 9:00-12:00 or 1:00 - 4:00 pm
  • $60.00 per 2-hour direct therapy visit for after-school sessions

Available Session Times

Daytime Sessions

  • 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

After-School Sessions

  • 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Weekend Sessions

  • 3-hour sessions, with scheduling based on client and therapist availability

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized ABA treatment programs based on each client's needs and treatment goals under RBA supervision.
  • Provide one-to-one ABA therapy to children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental needs.
  • Implement evidence-based teaching and behaviour intervention strategies.
  • Support communication, social, adaptive, academic, play, and behavioural skill development.
  • Collect accurate clinical data and communicate client progress to the supervising clinician.
  • Follow treatment protocols and clinical recommendations provided by the supervising BCBA/RBA.
  • Establish a positive and trusting relationship with the child and family.
  • Create a supportive, engaging, and positive learning environment.
  • Provide appropriate education and support to parents and caregivers as directed by the clinical team.
  • Encourage family participation in therapy and create opportunities for skills to generalize into everyday routines.
  • Maintain accurate session documentation and records.
  • Collaborate professionally with families, supervisors, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Follow all Nexus Therapy policies, procedures, and professional expectations.

Qualifications

  • Educational and/or clinical background in Applied Behaviour Analysis, Behavioural Science, Psychology, Education, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, or a related field.
  • Previous experience implementing ABA strategies with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and observational skills.
  • Ability to establish a positive rapport with children and families.
  • Enthusiastic, patient, dependable, and comfortable working with children with varying developmental and behavioural needs.
  • Ability to work independently while accepting supervision, guidance, and feedback from clinical supervisors.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to collect accurate data.
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable access to a vehicle during working hours.
  • Availability for daytime, after-school, and/or weekend sessions.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Screening or ability to obtain one.
