Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) Settlement Worker
Leave Cover – 3 Month Term Contract
with Salary Range starting at $23.14 per hour, 37.5 hours per week**

Immigrant & Refugee Services Association PEI (IRSA), a not-for-profit settlement support organization, is seeking a AIP Settlement Worker (Term Leave Cover – 3 Month Contract) to join us on our mission of building a welcoming and inclusive province by bringing diverse groups together and empowering newcomers to build a future in PEI.

What’s the Job?
As an AIP Settlement Worker working with our Employment Assistance Services (EAS) team, your primary duties will be assisting AIP designated employers and their newcomer employees with settlement and integration support through the Atlantic Immigration Program.
You will assist employers with the AIP process, detailing the mandatory steps and providing information on their rights and responsibilities throughout. You will also help support employers with education on settlement needs and host information sessions.
For our Newcomer clients, you will ensure their understanding of the entire process by providing information on their rights & responsibilities and help them complete needs assessments for their settlement plans. Follow up and support will be provided with the goal of their successful integration into the local community and a positive employment experience for both parties.
This role collaborates across departments to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote IRSA’s vision, mission and core values.
Responsibilities:
- Assists employers & newcomers with the AIP process
- Provides information to all parties on their respective responsibilities and corresponding rights throughout the AIP program
- Helps complete viable settlement plans in collaboration with the newcomer clients and employers.
- Educates employers on settlement needs in general, and specifically for identified clients.
- Collaborates with regional settlement agencies who have existing AIP support teams
- Facilitates job-preparation workshops, and supports the development of professional resume building, job search, and interview skills.
What skills or qualifications will help me succeed?
Case work requires patience, empathy, cultural competence, excellent communication, digital skills, networking, language skills.
The following list of skills would also be considered assets:
- You have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration or a related discipline, with a minimum of 1-year experience in role (or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience)
- Ability to communicate in other languages would be considered an asset
- Previous experience working in non-profit organization and/or non-government organization would be considered an asset
