Full job description
Job Summary
The Simulation and Lab Instructor supports the operation of the nursing lab and simulation lab within the nursing program, including lab and simulation preparation, instruction, and clean-up, as well as maintaining compliance. This role assists with facilitating student learning, reinforcing key concepts, supporting hands-on skill development, and contributing to student assessment and feedback processes.
Responsibilities
- Assist Simulation and Lab Coordinator and Instructor of Record by preparing for (e.g., setting up), guiding students through skills practice and learning activities, and clean-up of all lab activities, and simulation learning activities.
- Supports the implementation of approved syllabi and learning objectives as directed by the Instructor of Record.
- Provide additional clarification and support to students during lab and simulation.
- Assist Simulation and Lab Coordinator with facilitation of make-up activities.
- Help ensure equipment is used appropriately, safely, and maintained according to protocols.
- Promote adherence to safety, infection control, and professional practice standards.
- Contribute to grading and marking assignments, as directed.
- Provide informal feedback to students to support skill development and improvement.
- Escalate student concerns or performance issues to the Instructor of Record.
- Encourage student participation and engagement in learning opportunities.
- Collaborate with Simulation and Lab Coordinator and Instructor of Record to ensure consistency in course delivery and student experience.
- It is expected that you might participate in scholarship activities, such as serving on university committees either locally or globally, collaborate on research, leading initiatives, writing, completing reviews, etc., and these activities will be considered in evaluation and promotion.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Adhere to institutional policies, procedures, handbooks, and guidelines.
- Engage in ongoing learning to remain current in clinical practice, lab, simulation, and educational approaches.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Education and Knowledge:
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Brunswick, license must be maintained annually.
- Adhere to professional nursing standards and confidentiality.
- Bachelor of Nursing degree required; Master’s degree considered an asset.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical nursing experience.
- Experience in clinical, lab, or simulation teaching environments is an asset.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems is an asset.

- Ability to work collaboratively and support faculty-led instruction.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Observational skills to support student learning and identify areas for improvement.
- Adaptability and flexibility to support a variety of teaching environments.
- Supportive, approachable, and professional demeanor when working with students.
- Computer literate, with proficiency in Outlook, Windows, Excel, Word, and similar programs.
Pay: $90,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
Education:
- Master's Degree (preferred)
