Company Introduction

T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 36 stores across the country: 13 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 14 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.

The role

Reporting to the Kitchen Department Head, the Assistant Kitchen Department Head provides support to the Department Head in the department’s daily operation and management to ensure that it is functioning under good conditions. This opportunity offers a strong career path for individuals interested in developing a career in kitchen operations and management, with potential for growth within the department and other areas of the organization.

Major Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations and monitor staff performance.
  • Provide coaching, on-the-job training, shadowing, and guidance to department staff.
  • Oversee Kitchen Associates, ensuring fair distribution of work and strict execution of daily checklists.
  • Foster teamwork and promote an inclusive work environment.
  • Supervise product quality, inventory control, food safety, and freshness, ensuring strict adherence to FIFO practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, equipment upkeep, and workplace safety within the department.
  • Collaborate with the Merchandising Department to align with company principles.
  • Lead by example by performing all hands-on duties required in the Kitchen Department.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in food production, food service, or related fields, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of kitchen products, displays, promotions, and packaging techniques.
  • Good understanding of relevant tools and equipment, with the ability to interpret merchandise labels.
  • Familiarity with workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Basic computer proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective people management skills with the ability to train staff.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an asset.
  • Food wise certificate is an asset.

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
