Moneris is building a modern, enterprise‑grade data and AI foundation to accelerate decision‑making, enable new products and operations, and unlock measurable business value. As Vice President, Data & Artificial Intelligence, you will define and execute an enterprise data and AI strategy, transforming fragmented capabilities into a scalable, secure, and trusted foundation that powers analytics, reporting, and AI‑enabled solutions.

This role partners closely across Technology, Product, Sales, Operations, Risk, Legal, Privacy, Security, and Finance to ensure data and AI are governed, trusted, and deployed responsibly. You will own enterprise data platforms, data engineering, AI/ML and Generative AI engineering, data science, and MLOps, while integrating with Finance‑owned analytics (BI and reporting) through shared governance, metrics, and value realization.

Location: You will be based in our Etobicoke office, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Reporting Relationship : You will report to the Chief Information Officer, Technology.

Posting Type: Replacement.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and deliver a multi‑year enterprise data and AI strategy aligned to business priorities, technology direction, and risk appetite.

  • Lead data engineering, AI engineering, data science, and MLOps teams, establishing standards, operating models, and delivery practices.

  • Design, build, and operate secure, resilient, and scalable data platforms supporting analytics, regulatory reporting, and AI use cases.

  • Drive development and production deployment of AI/ML and Generative AI solutions, including lifecycle management, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish and mature MLOps capabilities for deployment, observability, governance, and cost/performance optimization.

  • Embed data governance, privacy, security, and responsible AI by design in partnership with Risk, Legal, Privacy, Security, and Finance.

  • Define enterprise standards for data quality, lineage, access, and retention for sensitive and regulated data.

  • Partner with business and technology leaders to prioritize and deliver high‑value data and AI initiatives.

  • Build and lead high‑performing teams, fostering cross‑functional collaboration and sustained adoption.

What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months)

  • An approved enterprise data and AI roadmap with funding, milestones, and measurable outcomes.

  • Stabilized and scaling core data platforms with improved security, data quality, lineage, reliability, and time‑to‑data.

  • 1–3 AI/ML or Generative AI solutions transitioned from pilot to production with defined controls and business impact.

  • Strong operating rhythms with Technology and Finance supporting governance, shared metrics, and value realization.

  • A capable leadership team and talent plan in place to sustain delivery and modernization.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience across enterprise data platforms, data engineering, and AI/ML, including 5+ years in senior leadership roles.

  • Proven experience scaling data and AI solutions from pilot to production, including operations, reliability, and monitoring.

  • Strong background implementing data governance, privacy, security, and responsible AI in regulated environments.

  • Ability to influence senior leaders by translating technical strategy into business outcomes.

  • Demonstrated people leadership across data engineering, AI engineering or data science, and MLOps teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in payments, fintech, or highly regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with modern cloud data architectures (e.g., lakehouse, streaming/event‑driven data, API‑based data products).

  • Experience establishing enterprise data platform or data product operating models.

  • Vendor and partner management experience for data and AI platforms.
